Community events

Visibility of LGBTIQ+ people is of the utmost importance both for individuals and for the community as a whole, and being a part of the LGBTIQ+ community can give us a sense of belonging, it feels like we are seen, like we are stronger together. Having similar challenges and experiences makes it easier for us to support and encourage each other, which is especially important when we feel lonely and overlooked.

The community events that we organise at SQVOT serve as visible symbols of our existence and the importance of community for the individual.

SQVOT Living Room opens its doors every second Monday at the Monokel club in Ljubljana’s Metelkova district, where we hang out between 5 and 8 pm. At every meeting there is a person from the SQVOT programme, who makes the room even safer and has a lot of information about the programme and the services we offer.

SQVOT Living Room is a place for every young LGBTIQ+ person, who:

  • yearns for community!
  • wants to address different topics, spend time among cool folk and meet new friends!
  • misses a safe space where they can spend their free time!
  • wants a place to talk about housing exclusion, mental health, life and anything else that interests them.

The event is financed by the European Union.
